What’s the difference between your “Traditional” and “Inspired” recipes?
“Traditional” recipes are made as authentically as possible, following classic techniques and ingredients from that country’s culinary heritage. “Inspired” recipes take a traditional dish as a starting point but include our own creative twist — a substitution, shortcut, or fusion element. Both are clearly labelled so you always know what you’re getting.
Do you test every recipe before publishing it?
Yes. Every recipe on Old Country Table is cooked and tested in our own kitchen before it’s published, and again if we ever update or revise it.
Why do you list both metric and US customary measurements?
Our readers come from the UK, US, Europe, and Australia, and each region tends to measure differently. We list both so the recipe works no matter which system you’re used to, with weight-based metric measurements prioritised for baking, where precision matters most.
Can I substitute ingredients in your recipes?
In most cases, yes — we’ll note suggested substitutions where they genuinely work. For dishes labelled “Traditional,” we’d recommend trying the original version at least once before adapting it, since substitutions can change the character of a classic dish.
Do you have recipes for dietary restrictions (vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.)?
We’re steadily expanding our range to include more dietary options. Check the tags on each recipe, or use the site search, to find what’s currently available.
Can I request a recipe?
Absolutely — we love hearing what readers want to see. Get in touch through our Contact page with your request.
How do I convert oven temperatures for my country?
Each recipe includes the cooking temperature, and where relevant, we note Fahrenheit, Celsius, and UK Gas Mark equivalents, along with a note on fan/convection oven adjustments.
Do you have a newsletter?
Yes — you can sign up on our homepage, or grab our free recipe booklet as a starting point when you join.
Can I republish or share your recipes and photos?
You’re welcome to share a link to our recipes anywhere you like. Please don’t republish our full recipe text or photos elsewhere without permission — feel free to contact us if you’d like to discuss this.
Do sponsored posts or affiliate links affect which recipes you publish?
No. Any sponsored content is clearly labelled, and affiliate links never influence which recipes we create or how we write about them. See our Disclosure page for full details.
